Astet Studio’s hotel draws from spanish winemaking heritage

Multidisciplinary Astet Studio introduces Grand Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, a refined hospitality experience nestled in Priorat, a Spanish wine region. The hotel draws inspiration from the nature and winemaking heritage of Priorat, weaving these influences into every element of the design. Burgundy accents appear subtly across the interiors, echoing the renowned regional wines. This palette fosters a refined and grounded atmosphere, celebrating the landscape with a sensible approach. The architects preserve the original stone masonry in the main building, complementing it with serene, contemporary materials. The recurring use of arches throughout the facade and interiors creates a visual continuity. An extension of the main structure, the atelier building, adopts this materiality, ensuring a cohesive architectural language.

materials in Mas d’en Bruno reflect the purpose OF each space

Barcelona-based Astet Studio imagines the guest rooms of the hotel as tranquil sanctuaries, defined by noble materials such as oak wood, stucco, stone, and red marble. Open-concept bathrooms frame the surrounding vineyards through their large windows, breaking traditional layouts to enhance the connection with nature. Arched elements are present here as well, this time serving as subtle room dividers. In the common areas, each space adapts the material palette to reflect its purpose. The restaurant incorporates deep burgundy accents, creating a warm, versatile environment, while the library invites relaxation with oak shelving, timeless furniture, and curated lighting. The spa offers an intimate retreat, mixing current materials with preserved 18th-century ruins discovered during excavation. Outdoor spaces at Mas d’en Bruno extend the design ethos into the surrounding landscape, blending with the vineyards to create inviting areas for relaxation.
